Several other things stand out in Pete Senior’s mind ... his sons, Pete Jr. and Bob joined the firm. Pete Sr. took training related to estimating in the United States. They got into computers early - first a 360K computer that was upgraded to 640K and a 30 megabyte hard drive. Times were challenging in the years 1983 to 1985, in fact, Pete Sr. worked without taking a salary until 1986. He sold out in 1987 and retired ... to work on Suderman Estimating Systems training others from across Canada how to estimate.

Ken Pickering was a former Globe employee when he set up Elite Electric with his wife Barbara in 1984. Elite did both commercial and residential work. The company grew rapidly from two employees up to fifteen.

A major turning point for Elite came doing the electrical work on the $25 million Hotel Saskatchewan restoration and renovation project. The hotel was built originally in 1935 and seen numerous renovations and expansions. This made it challenging when it came to replacing wires and running new wires through territory that was often held surprises.

Globe and Elite were brought together in a merger of sorts in 1993. Today the company employs 15 people and it has expanded up to 50 when working on various projects. Ken Pickering is the President of Globe-Elite Electrical Contractors.
