Globe Electric saw its beginning in 1944 when Peter Suderman set the company up to do electrical service work. Material was scarce during these war years and any material that was available went to “incumbent electrical outfits first. Peter was able
to pick up cable based on personal relationships with others.
The housing boom after the war and the rural electrification program saw tremendous growth in Globe over 1948 to 1953. Although other firms charged higher and higher rates because of this demand, Peter held back on Globe rates; Later when times were tougher, Globe continued to receive business from others who remembered this during those years. Peter’s son, who is called Pete “Senior” since he also has a son Pete, was an accountant who apprenticed as an electrician in 1951. Pete Sr. gained his license in a year and a half. He took over the reins at the business in 1954 when his father, age fifty, retired because of poor health. Peter Sr. adds with a laugh, that in 1999 at the age of 95, ‘my father was still enjoying poor health!’
